FLOWER MOUND BOYS LACROSSE
Boys Program
We offer teams for boys ages kindergarten through 12th grade who are zoned for the western Lewisville ISD high schools of Marcus, Flower Mound, and Lewisville. Boys who live in Argyle ISD or Northwest ISD may also be eligible to play, based on their location, as well as boys in Denton ISD in 8th grade and below. Please contact board@flowermoundlacrosse.org with eligibility and zoning questions.
AGES
The boys' program is separated into five separate age groupings:
- Kindergarten - 2nd grade
- 3rd - 4th grade
- 5th - 6th grade
- 7th - 8th grade
- High School
Programs available to players will be based on their birthday and USA Lacrosse's age brackets.
*Age Guidelines can be found on the USA Lacrosse Website
WHERE
Our "home" fields are located in Flower Mound and Lantana. We have fields dedicated for lacrosse in 3 primary locations:
- Bakersfield Park
- Flower Mound CAC
- Lantana Community Church
GAMES
The number of games will depend on the age group, but typically in the fall season we play a minimum of 8 games which includes 2 tournaments and several "play days". In the spring, teams can expect to play 8-12 games, depending on the age group.
Youth teams generally play games on weekends. We do our best to avoid scheduling games on Sunday mornings. No games will be played on Spring Break weekends or on Easter Sunday. High school teams usually play weeknight games, but they do occasionally have weekend tournaments or play days.
EXTRA COSTS
USA Lacrosse Membership is separate from club registration and required for ALL players to participate in FMLA and USA Lacrosse sanctioned events. The annual fee for USA Lacrosse membership for our players is $35.
WHEN
The boys' program is broken into two seasons, spring and fall. The spring season (Feb-Apr) is our competitive season, with games weekly. The fall season (late Aug-Oct) is primarily developmental. In the fall, teams may have some weekend events, but do not have games every weekend. We encourage our players to attend our summer skill-development programming, but we do not offer team play in the summer.
PRACTICES & GAMES
Practice times and locations are dependent on field and coach availability. Specific information will be released at the start of each season.
Our youth teams practice on weeknights. A typical practice load will vary based on the player's age as follows:
K - 2nd - 2 per week for 1 hour
3rd - 4th - 2 per week for 1 hour
5th - 6th - 2 per week for 2 hours
7th - 8th - 2 per week for 2 hours
High School - 3-4 days per week for 1.5-2 hours
We offer additional materials to players who are participating in their schools' external PE programs to meet the minimum requirements for practice time for those programs.
JERSEYS
Upon their initial registration with our program, players are able to select a jersey number from a list of available numbers. They will keep this number throughout their career with Flower Mound Lacrosse unless they request a number change. Number availability is controlled to avoid numbering conflicts that could arise at any time in the future.
We do not require players to purchase uniform pieces annually. The only time a player will be required to buy new items is if they age-up to a team with different uniform requirements, outgrow the item, or lose it.
Kindergarten-4th grade players are required to purchase a reversible pinnie which they will wear to all practices and serves as their game uniform. They will wear red shorts and white socks to games. Total uniform cost for a new K-4 player is $35.
5th-8th grade players will purchase a uniform kit in addition to their pinnie. The kit includes a team t-shirt, a reversible jersey and a pair of shorts. Total cost for a new 5-8 player is $135.
High school players need a pinnie for practices, a light and a dark uniform top, light and dark uniform shorts, and three team t-shirts (white, navy, and red). The total uniform cost for a new high school player is $315. In addition, all high school players need a team helmet, which costs approximately $325. These items will last the player throughout their 4-year high school career.
